Homemade Cat Toys with Socks (how-to videos)

While surfing around on the internet, I found these videos on homemade cat toys. I think that the video tutorial on using old socks to make cat toys is brilliant because so often I find that my cat isn’t entertained by expensive store-bought toys. Sometimes just a ball of tinfoil on a string, or a crinkly plastic bag are fantastic toys. This video makes a mouse-toy with a sock, but is a bit more complicated!

What kinds of toys does your cat have? Are any of them homemade?

Reggae has all kinds of toys. His favorite, is a silly length of suede cord that he pounces and jumps with, he loves mouse toys, balls, and the laser beam thingie. I just replaced that this weekend, it has been out of commission for years. He was so happy, the old man ran around like a teenaged cat! He loved sparkly pom-pom balls when he was a kitten. He used to play fetch with them. He still does, occasionally with some mouses. One of his mouses, I knit and stuffed with foam and catnip. He likes it, and tries to kill it often. πŸ™‚

I wrote up a pattern for a knitted fetch toy for Doozer. Although I admit he seems to have lost interest in it for the time being. *sigh*

My Sasha plays with just about anything! When I move the buffet in the kitchen tp sweep we find TONS of stuff under there! She loves zip lock baggies, polly pocket dolls (or any small toys from the girls rooms, I have to be careful there) and just wads of paper sometimes! She’s the chubbier one, but most definitely the most active! πŸ™‚
